Welcome Message from Asian Association for Frailty and Sarcopenia

The Asian Conference for Frailty and Sarcopenia (ACFS) is an international scientific event, which is organized every year, and welcomes a wide number of participants from all over the world, involved in the fields of sarcopenia, frailty, and cachexia. This annual meeting explores these fields in topics ranging from their evolution to definition, from basic research to the latest therapeutic interventions for management and prevention. The topics discussed at ACFS have been successful in growing knowledge of frailty and sarcopenia with efforts culminating in the consensus for Sarcopenia by the Asian Working Group for Sarcopenia (AWGS).

After 2 years of not being able to meet in person at ACFS due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 8th ACFS face-to-face conference was successfully held in Nagoya, Japan last year.

This year, the 9th ACFS will be held in Singapore, and we look forward to providing an opportunity for healthcare professionals, to come, enjoy, and share recent findings from their research, and engage in rigorous debate on the main issues in practice and education in the fields of frailty and sarcopenia, to improve the quality of care for older adults. Finally, I would like to thank the Singapore Organizing Committee for their tremendous efforts to make the meeting a success.

Welcome Message from Organising Chair of 9th ACFS

It brings us great pleasure to invite you to join us at the 9th Asian Conference for Frailty and Sarcopenia (ACFS). This international scientific event will be held from 26th October (Thursday) to 28th October (Saturday) 2023.

Centered around the theme “Building Resilience in the Post Pandemic Era”, this multidisciplinary conference will feature the latest developments in the cutting-edge fields of frailty and sarcopenia research. We are honoured to have leading experts and key opinion leaders cover a diverse selection of topics, ranging from basic science to innovative management and therapeutics. The ACFS will provide excellent opportunities to network with like-minded clinicians and researchers from all over the world and share best practices pertaining to the care of older adults. Delegates can also leverage this platform to showcase the latest findings in their research through poster and oral presentations.

New additions this year are workshops on the first day that aim to educate and equip participants with the skills to assess and manage frailty and sarcopenia, both of which are highly relevant to current and future clinical practice, and will impact on the care of older adults susceptible or affected by these potentially devastating conditions. This will be in line with the official launch of the Singapore Clinical Practice Guidelines on Sarcopenia at this conference.

The conference venue is conducive for learning and encourage the open exchange of ideas between researchers, doctors, nurses and allied health professionals, as well as senior decision makers and companies who are looking to enhance their brand outreach to a wider global audience.

We look forward to meeting you in sunny Singapore!

Best wishes,
